Projects

Spectrum

Spectrum is an internal app that replaces the old-fashioned spreadsheet version of a product specification. The app serves as a documentation platform, and at the same time, a venue for collaboration for cross-functional teams at Lexmark.

The initial idea came out as a realization that maintaining product specifications across all products using a spreadsheet can be pretty tedious, especially when working with several teams. My role was to champion the idea and drive the project's success.

Weeqiu (Ziersh)

Ziersh/Weeqiu is a re-imagined queueing app that helps people get more things done during the COVID-19 breakout. The app was an entry for the AWS Hackdays 2020, which landed the team top 5 out of 400+ participants in the Philippines. Its primary purpose is to help people strategize their daily activities and avoid wasting time in long queues.

My role was to design the app's architecture using AWS technologies, develop the backend, and review the app wireframes.

One Nadela Dental

One Nadela Dental is a website built for a fast-growing dental clinic in Cebu, Philippines. The project aims to expand the online visibility and reach of the business, which also showcases the services offered and the business's success stories. Customers can also use the website to book appointments integrated into their Facebook page using Facebook Messenger's API. My role was to guide the business in coming up with the project's contents, design, and implementation.

AWS Hackdays 2020 (Philippines)

Together with my brother and two of my colleagues, we joined the AWS Hackdays to pitch the idea we came up with during the start of the pandemic. The team landed the team top 5 out of 400+ participants in the Philippines.

Career Appreciation Day

2019 | University of San Carlos

I gave a talk about user experience and what it's like to be working with cross-functional teams in a multinational company setup. It was a fun and fulfilling experience sharing my story with college and senior high students.

Lexmark F2F Hackathon

2019 | Lexmark

I presented an idea to help different stakeholders collaborate more and simplify the product documentation process. The experience of pitching an idea was fun but, at the same time, frightening due to the crowd filled with experts. The idea now became an official project under our organization.

Design Sprint with the User Experience Team and the Content Design Organization

2019 | Lexmark

The first-ever design sprint I facilitated was with the UX team. We explored different ideas to help us with our design process, primarily when documenting design specs.

After facilitating the Design Sprint with the UX team, I reached out to external teams to share the process of Design Sprint. The group discussed many challenges during the session, but we were able to understand the problem better and provide tangible ideas.

Design Thinking with the Creative Folks, Technical Leads, and Engineers

2019 | Lexmark

The success of the Design Sprint sessions I had with different teams made the organization embrace more about the Design Thinking process. The first few Design Thinking workshops I facilitated were about understanding current problems, whether internally or externally; the creative folks brainstormed many ideas. The activity focused on identifying issues and areas of opportunity using Walt Disney's Creative Strategy.

Everyone in the creative organization enjoyed the activity, and we received positive feedback. So, together with the management, we reached out to the technical folks to share the Design Thinking process. We invited folks from the mechanical engineering team, packaging team, technical leads, and managers. It was a fun activity to facilitate because, although the group mentioned similar problems from the previous sessions, we still generated unique solutions.

About

I'm a product designer and a software engineer who enjoys crafting meaningful and delightful experiences for humans. I'm currently working as a hardware user experience engineer and researcher at Lexmark and studying my MS degree in Information Technology at the University of San Carlos. During my free time, I enjoy exploring technology trends, challenge myself with design exercises, and sometimes play competitive video games when my code doesn't work after debugging it for several hours. 🤷‍♂️
